Many of my clients are at a milestone period in their lives where they stop, take stock, and evaluate their personal goals. It’s unfortunate that we’ve trivialized these critical moments with demeaning terms like “midlife crisis.” I prefer to think of them as midlife re-evaluations. These re-evaluations are moments where clients become mindful enough to assess the past and the present in order to plan for the future. This type of evaluation is about deciding how you want to be as a person to achieve sustained contentment for yourself.
Have you consciously made sustained contentment a guiding principle when planning your future?
While there is much overlap between men and women, there are some re-evaluation issues specific to each gender. (I’ll cover men’s concerns in a future post…)
Below are concerns that my female clients have identified and addressed as part of our work toward a contented, healthy life:
🔷 You’ve given your all to everyone else for most of your life…
🔷 You find yourself exhausted, feeling overwhelmed, anxious…
🔷 Precious few appreciate what you’ve sacrificed for them…
🔷 Most take you for granted, often demanding more…
🔷 You may be in the first stages of menopause, your body feels spent, worn-out…
🔷 You feel guilty and anxious over saying “No” and setting boundaries.
🔷 If you change, many around you will be angry and likely retaliate in some way.
🔷 Serving is all you know, prioritizing yourself feels wrong.
🔷 When imagining your future, you realize the need to change your life’s trajectory; you can’t live this lifestyle for another 10, 20, 30+ years…
In order to make a change for the better, it’s important to begin with a mindset shift. All of the above problems can be mitigated or eliminated by changing how you think and then acting in accordance with the new mindset.
You don’t have to maintain the same unhealthy cycle; you can improve your life in a relatively short period of time.
Begin the mindset training process; learn how to make a few changes that will keep you on a healthier trajectory for decades to come…
The very best to you.
