Sometimes we mourn lost time; we focus on the things that we “could have done.” Sometimes we agonize over the future, things that we hope to do or fears over what might happen.

When we focus on the past or the future, we overlook the most critical segment of our lives that’s available to us…

The present.

Although learning from the past and planning for the future are helpful, the present is the only time that you’ve ever had. Regardless of your age or how long you might live, you always have the same amount of time – the moment you’re experiencing right now.

So why spend so much time fretting over the past or the future? At this moment they don’t exist, they’re just mental constructs – data that we call memory (The past) and imagination (The future). This truth can be easy to dismiss but as my clients have realized, without a deep appreciation of the present we will be subject to guilt, self-doubt, and anxiety.

Upsetting thoughts that distract us from the Now are useless. After all, anything you wish to repair from the past can only be done in the present. Any provisions we make for the future can only be made in the present.

It’s our loss of the present that makes life go by too fast…

Are you aware of how valuable Now is?

“Life is long if you know how to use it.”  – Lucius Annaeus Seneca

The very best to you.
